Happy Easter

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about it and have been excited to experience it with Mason this year. Although he was sick, he still loved the Easter egg hunts and finding some of his favorite things inside the eggs (goldfish, puffs, wagon wheels, grapes, raisins - I'm sure next year he won't be as satisfied with those things!). We celebrated with the Garlich fam yesterday. We had a great meal followed by egg hunts for Ellie and Mason. They each got Easter baskets and of course Mason's favorite part was the huge bouncy ball. We watched some basketball and a video on the Garden of Gethsemane. Andy's grandparents came which was great because we don't get to see them all that often. Andy's brother, Eric is getting married to Kristiena in May so we all looked at the engagement pictures that Andy took of them.

We were not able to go to church today since Mason was sick, so we all slept in and hung out around here in the morning. It didn't quite feel like Easter since we didn't go to church. We gave Mason his Easter basket and did a little hunt out in our backyard. We then headed over to my Grandma's for Easter with the Motley's. We had another great meal, Mason took a nap, we watched basketball and then did the big hunt when Mason woke up. My grandma is good at making everything fair for all the kids and does the same # of (color-coded) eggs for each kid which contain little "tickets" for gifts. Mason didn't really understand everything but loved all the new stuff and playing with the kids.

Andy left earlier this evening for Mexico. He is driving down with 5 other people from YouthFront to work at their facilities there. They will be putting on "camp" for the kids there and helping to build furniture for a newly-constructed building which holds the after-school program. Meanwhile, Mason and I are headed to Virginia later this week to spend some time with my dear friend, Jen. I am very excited but a bit nervous about flying with Mason. He has to sit on my lap and it is a LONG way there (and back!)! So if you think of it, say a prayer for all of us this week for safe travels, for Andy and his team and all that they are doing in Mexico, and for Mason to get over this sickness so he is well for our trip.
